Dosage-response correlation

Recommendations for physical exercise and health have its base in knowledge of the dosage-response correlation between exercise, health and risk. Read more about risk assessment.

Physical exercise has different dimensions like intensity, duration and frequency. The total amount, combination of these dimensions, is related to different health gains in the so-called dose-response relationship.

The dose-response relationship between physical exercise and health has a curved-linear connection, where the increase in health benefits level out and the risks increase at certain intensities. It is also theorized that in very high intensities the health-curve might become an upside-down U-shape.

The dosage-response can differ greatly between diagnoses and is also very dependent of the starting point, considering both risk profile and level of physical activity. The dosage-response is highly individual and needs to be tested. Read more about individual testing
